Samsung is rolling out One UI 9 across its Galaxy lineup starting this year. The update, built on Android 17, began beta testing on May 13, 2026, with the Galaxy S26 series. Samsung has not confirmed a final device list yet, but reports from Korean outlets and tech publications point to a clear rollout order through 2026 and into 2027.
The stakes are high for millions of Galaxy owners. One UI 9 brings Android 17's framework changes plus new Galaxy AI features, and not every device in Samsung's catalog will qualify.
Who Gets One UI 9 First
The Galaxy S26 series leads the charge. These phones shipped with One UI 8.5 out of the box and became the first to test One UI 9 through the Samsung Members beta app starting May 13, 2026.
Samsung opened the beta in six markets: the United States, the United Kingdom, Poland, Germany, South Korea, and India. That limited rollout lets Samsung gather feedback before a wider public release.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 are expected to ship with One UI 9 pre-installed when they launch. Industry trackers also point to a possible "Z Fold 8 Wide" model joining that same launch wave.
When the Stable Version Arrives
Multiple Korean outlets, including Seoul Economic Daily and Korea Economic TV, report that the stable release of One UI 9 is expected around July 22, 2026. SamMobile and Tom's Guide have corroborated that timing.
The date is tied to a rumored Galaxy Unpacked event in London. Samsung is expected to use that event to unveil the Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 alongside the stable software. As of now, Samsung has issued no official invitation or press release confirming either the event or the date.
After the initial wave, the rollout is expected to widen. The Galaxy S25 and S24 series are projected to receive the stable update in August and September 2026. The Galaxy S23 series, along with mid-range A-series phones and select tablets, would follow toward the end of 2026.
Full List of Confirmed and Expected Phones
Based on Samsung's update policy and internal testing reports, here is the device breakdown circulating across tech outlets:
Getting One UI 9:
- Galaxy S26, S26+, S26 Ultra
- Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Flip 8 (and rumored Wide Fold model)
- Galaxy S25 series and S25 FE
- Galaxy S24 series and S24 FE
- Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7
- Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6
- Galaxy S23 series
- Galaxy A56 and A36 (expected, later in 2026)
Not getting One UI 9:
- Galaxy S22 series
- Galaxy S21 FE
- Galaxy Z Fold 4, Z Flip 4, and all older foldables
The Galaxy S23 series marks an important cutoff point. For these phones, One UI 9 would be their fourth and final major OS upgrade.

Why Some Devices Are Left Behind
Samsung's update policy explains the cutoff. The company's seven-year major OS update commitment only began with the Galaxy S24 series in January 2024.
Devices launched before that, including the Galaxy S22 series and Galaxy S21 FE, fall under the older four-year support window. Those phones have now used up their allotment. Their final major software update is One UI 8.5, based on Android 16, not One UI 9.
This same four-year ceiling applies to the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4. Both foldables hit their support limit alongside the older S-series phones, locking them out of the Android 17 jump entirely.
Tablets in the One UI 9 Lineup
Samsung's tablet support generally trails its phone lineup by a few months but follows a similar tiered structure. The Galaxy Tab S11 and Tab S10 series sit on the same high-priority support track as the current S-series flagships, making them strong candidates for One UI 9.
Older tablets face their own cutoff. For the Galaxy Tab S9 series, One UI 9 would represent its fourth and final major OS upgrade, mirroring the same support window applied to phones from that generation.
Galaxy Watch Gets a Separate Track
Samsung's Galaxy Watch lineup isn't running the same software as the phones. One UI 9 Watch operates on Wear OS 7, which Google introduced at I/O 2026 on May 19, 2026.
This distinction matters for owners checking eligibility. One UI 9 Watch is a separate software track from the phone-based One UI 9, even though both share the same numbering and launch window. Reports indicate the Watch version may debut alongside an upcoming Galaxy Watch series before expanding to older models.
Regional Rollout Timing
Samsung's past rollout patterns offer a guide for what comes next. South Korea, Europe, and the United States typically receive major updates first.
Regions including Africa, notably South Africa, tend to see One UI updates several weeks after the initial release window. Carrier-locked devices in any region generally lag behind unlocked models, since carriers run their own testing and certification before pushing updates to customers.
This staggered approach is standard practice for Samsung's global rollouts, and nothing reported so far suggests One UI 9 will deviate from that pattern.
What Comes Next
Samsung has not published an official device list or confirmed the July 22, 2026 date for the stable release. Everything circulating right now comes from beta testing patterns, Korean media reports, and historical update behavior.
The Galaxy S26 series beta program remains the most concrete signal of how this rollout is shaping up. Once Samsung issues an official announcement, expect rapid confirmation of the London Unpacked event, the final device list, and a defined schedule for phones, tablets, and watches.
Until then, Galaxy owners can check eligibility status under Settings, then Software Update, on their own device. Samsung Members app users in the six current beta countries can also track real-time beta availability as the company moves toward a global stable release.
