01 — Overview

Our Commitment to Accuracy

Infohubfacts is an independent digital news publication covering technology, finance, cryptocurrency markets, and Nigerian current affairs. We are committed to the highest standards of factual reporting and editorial integrity across every story we publish.

Error occurs in journalism, however unintentional can damage public trust, mislead audiences, and cause real harm. We take this responsibility seriously. When we get something wrong, we correct it promptly, transparently, and without equivocation.

Core Principle: No correction is too small to matter. Whether it's a misquoted statistic in a crypto update or a factual error in a Naija gist article, every inaccuracy deserves acknowledgement and correction.

This policy applies to all content published on Infohubfacts, including news articles, opinion pieces, social media posts, newsletters, and multimedia content — regardless of which team member or contributor authored it.

02 — Process

How We Handle Corrections

Our editorial correction process is structured to move quickly while being thorough. From the moment an error is flagged to the publication of a correction, every step is documented and reviewed.

  1. Error reported — A correction request is submitted by a reader, subject, or internal team member via our corrections email or online form. All reports are acknowledged within 24 hours.
  2. Editorial review — Our editors investigate the claim against original source material, interview transcripts, data, and archived records. This step typically takes 24–72 hours depending on complexity.
  3. Verification decision — The editor-in-chief or a senior editor makes a final determination: confirm the error, dispute the claim with evidence, or escalate for legal review where required.
  4. Correction issued — If an error is confirmed, the article is updated immediately and a dated, clearly worded correction notice is appended to the piece. The original incorrect content is not deleted.
  5. Notification — The person who reported the error is notified of the outcome. For significant errors, we publish a separate correction note on our homepage and social channels.
  6. Record keeping — All corrections are logged internally with the date, nature of the error, and remedial action taken. Our corrections log is available to any journalist or regulator upon request.
03 — Coverage

Coverage-Specific Standards

Each editorial vertical at Infohubfacts carries distinct accuracy obligations. Our correction standards are calibrated to the nature of each beat:

💻
Tech News
Product specs, release dates, and technical claims must cite manufacturer sources. Corrections to benchmark data or capability claims are prioritised.
📈
Finance
Market data, earnings figures, and economic indicators require verified sourcing. Errors with potential trading implications are corrected immediately.
Crypto Updates
Token prices, protocol details, and project claims must be cross-verified. We do not retroactively alter price data once published; corrections are appended.
🇳🇬
Naija Gist
Names, titles, and statements attributed to individuals require dual-source confirmation. Defamatory errors are corrected within 6 hours of confirmation.
04 — Classification

Error Severity Classification

Not all errors are equal. We classify inaccuracies by severity to prioritise our response and determine the appropriate level of public notice:

Level Type of Error Response Time Public Notice
Critical Factual errors that could harm individuals, distort market behaviour, or mislead on matters of public safety Within 6 hours Article + Homepage + Social
Major Incorrect figures, misattributed quotes, wrong dates, or errors affecting the core meaning of a story Within 24 hours Article correction note
Minor Spelling of proper nouns, minor typographical errors, formatting issues that do not affect factual integrity Within 72 hours Silent update or footnote
05 — Transparency

What We Will Never Do

Our correction policy is built on the principle that transparency must be unconditional. We make the following commitments explicitly:

We will never silently delete or rewrite articles to remove errors without clearly marking that a correction was made, including the date and nature of the change.

Specifically, Infohubfacts will not:

  1. Remove a published article to avoid accountability for errors without a public statement explaining the removal.
  2. Alter a correction notice after it has been published without adding a note explaining the amendment.
  3. Suppress a correction request because of commercial, political, or personal relationships with the subject of coverage.
  4. Issue corrections under pressure without editorial verification — a contested claim must be proven incorrect before a correction is published.
  5. Attribute corrections to anonymous "staff" when the error is material — significant corrections name the responsible editorial decision-maker.
06 — Scope

Opinion Content & Contributors

Opinion articles, analysis columns, and contributor pieces are clearly labelled as such on Infohubfacts. While we welcome a diversity of viewpoints, we apply the same factual accuracy standards to opinion content that we apply to news reporting.

If a factual claim embedded in an opinion piece is proven incorrect, we will issue a correction to that specific claim while preserving the author's opinion and argument in full. The correction will note that the author's view has not changed — only the inaccurate fact has been addressed.

For content submitted by external contributors, the named author is primarily responsible for factual accuracy. However, Infohubfacts takes editorial co-responsibility for all content it publishes and will not direct readers to dispute corrections solely with contributors.

07 — Contact

Submit a Correction Request

If you believe any content published on Infohubfacts contains a factual error, we want to hear from you. Our editorial desk reviews every submission with genuine care and responds to all correction requests.

To help us investigate efficiently, please include the following when you write to us:

  1. The URL or headline of the article in question.
  2. The specific claim, figure, or statement you believe to be incorrect.
  3. What you believe the correct information to be, with supporting evidence if available.
  4. Your name and contact details (kept confidential unless you consent otherwise).

We treat all correction requests as confidential unless the submitter explicitly consents to being identified in our published correction notice.
