Spotify has transformed music streaming once again. On December 9, 2025, the platform expanded its music video beta. This targets Premium users in key markets. The rollout covers the US and Canada. It also includes Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Dominica, Ghana, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Uganda, and Venezuela.
This expansion builds on earlier launches. Last year, Spotify tested videos in select overseas markets. Now, millions more can access them. The feature is exclusive to Premium subscribers. Free users in some beta markets like Brazil and Colombia get access too. But in new regions, it's Premium only.
Videos play on multiple devices. Use iOS, Android, desktop, or TV apps. Start a song and look for the "Switch to video" option. Playback is smooth. The video begins right where your song is. Rotate your phone to landscape for full-screen view.
Switching back is easy. Select "Switch to audio" to return to listening. This replaces the looping Canvas artwork, unless you disable it. Discover more content easily. Scroll to Related Music Videos. Check an artist's Music tab. Browse playlists like 90s Video Hits or Hip-Hop Throwbacks.
Personalized recommendations appear on your home screen. By month's end, US and Canada users will see video-specific suggestions. The catalog starts limited. It features official music videos. Expect studio versions, live performances, and covers.
Spotify plans rapid growth. More videos will roll out in coming months. This keeps the library fresh. Music videos enhance engagement. Fans are 34 percent more likely to stream a track again after watching. They are 24 percent more likely to save or share it. Super listeners stream the artist 85 percent more the next month.
A recent survey backs this. Burson polled 8,400 people across 19 markets from August 27 to October 3, 2025. Over 70 percent said more video content would improve their Spotify experience. This shows strong demand.
Videos complement existing features. Think Countdown Pages, Canvas, and Clips. Together, they create a richer platform. Artists benefit too. Video streams of at least 30 seconds count for royalties. Learn more on Spotify for Artists landing page.
This move challenges competitors. YouTube dominates video music streaming. Spotify counters with integrated audio-video. Spotify also added video podcasts. Nearly 400 million users watch half a million shows. Social tools like comments and polls make it interactive.
Expect more innovations. Spotify aims to blend music and visuals seamlessly. This could redefine streaming. For users, it's exciting. Visuals bring songs to life. Discover new ways to enjoy favorites.
