The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has uncovered a massive property portfolio allegedly belonging to Nigeria's former Attorney General. Documents obtained reveal shocking details about the assets under investigation.
Former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami faces serious allegations as the EFCC traces 41 properties valued at N212.89 billion to him. The revelation comes amid an ongoing corruption probe that has gripped the nation.
The properties span three key locations. Kebbi State accounts for the largest share, Kano State follows, and the Federal Capital Territory completes the portfolio.
Abubakar Malami Properties in Kebbi State Worth N162 Billion
Kebbi State houses 30 properties with an estimated total value of N162.19 billion. The collection includes educational institutions, commercial ventures, and luxury residential estates.
Rayhaan University Properties and Educational Assets
The investigation reveals extensive educational infrastructure. Rayhaan University's permanent site carries a valuation of N56 billion. The temporary campus is valued at N37.8 billion. A third university location adds N2.45 billion to the portfolio.
The vice chancellor's residence alone is worth N490 million. Rayhaan Model Academy commands a valuation of N11.2 billion. The primary and secondary school complex is valued at N8.75 billion.
Rayhaan Agro Allied Industrial Complex
The former minister's industrial holdings are substantial. Factory buildings are valued at N4.2 billion. Machines and plant units total N10.5 billion. The factory mosque carries a N2.45 billion price tag.
Staff quarters consist of 10 units worth N1.487 billion combined. The Rayhaan Bustan Building is valued at N3.15 billion.

Two bungalow units at Efab Estate are valued at N385 million. Harmonia Hotel in Area 11, Garki commands a N7 billion price tag.
EFCC Charges Against Abubakar Malami and Son
The federal government filed 16 counts of money laundering charges. Both Malami and his son Abdulaziz face allegations under the Money Laundering Prevention and Prohibition Act.
Details of Money Laundering Allegations
Prosecutors allege involvement in laundering N1.14 billion. The funds were allegedly traced to a Sterling Bank account. Charges cite violations of Sections 15, 18, and 21 of the anti-money laundering law.
The prosecution claims the defendants knew funds represented proceeds from illegal activities. Accusations include using Metropolitan Auto Tech Limited to conceal unlawful money origins between July 2022 and June 2025.
EFCC Raid on Malami Homes and Offices
On December 17, EFCC operatives conducted searches at multiple locations. Malami's homes and offices in Abuja and Kebbi State were visited during the investigation.
Malami's Response to EFCC Actions
The former minister claimed the searches amounted to intimidation. He linked the actions to his earlier reference to the Justice Ayo Salami Commission report. That report allegedly indicted EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede.
His statement described the operations as retaliatory and a threat to rule of law. However, no evidence was provided connecting the searches to his public comments.
